This independence day, I would like to present an institution from my hometown of Kolhapur which has a special place in my heart.
Students and teachers of Jidnyasa Institute For Special Education & Mentally Handicapped recently represented India at the Special Olympics, held in Los Angeles from July 25 to August 2. Months of preparation and hard work paid off and these students won 5 Gold, 4 Silver and 3 Bronze medals in Badminton for India.
Jidnyasa is an unsung local hero that I have supported for a long time. The institute works with children who have special needs. They have successfully educated, trained and rehabilitated mentally handicapped and hearing-impaired children for the past 25 years.
The institute began its journey with just two students has grown today to around 150 students and conducts schools in two shifts. The education and training of these children differs greatly from that of normal children, requiring and a lot of dedication on part of the Jidnyasa team.
This institute relies on the goodwill and generosity of donors to continue and extend its good work to those who need it most. Every little bit helps….so if you would like to contribute, please contact Jidnyasa institute on the details below:
